Genealogy of Winfield Gallup and Florence Miles

Notes

Arthur Allen, Jr. ("Allen") Haskell

Notes:
Allen, never "Arthur", was born in Conde, SD and at age ten or eleven came with his parents to Frankfort, S.D. where they had bought a farm a few miles SW of Frankfort, SD. Following his marriage to Eldy, her father bought the farm from Allen's father and Allen operated it. The farm prospered greatly under Allen and Eldy, expanding in acreage by at least six-fold. They eventually became owners of the farm and upon their retirement to town life in Redfield, SD, their son Scott took over the farm and was similarly successful, eventually purchasing the farm from his parents. At this writing, Scott's son, Joseph, appears potentially to become as successful as the previous three generations.

Robert Morris ("Bob") Bradeen

Notes:
Bob Bradeen was an unselfish, gentle and entertaining man. He was a good rancher and an eminently successful auctioneer, establishing and operating the largest such enterprise in South Dakota. He was looked up to as "Cowboy Bob" by Jack, stepson of Lynn Gallup. Norma, Bob's wife, was the nuts and bolts business mind of the auctioneering operation. It was she who did the planning, the setting up, the tallying of the sales and the managing of the money. Bob, the super salesman, brought in the customers and made them well pleased with their service. He loved the Black Hills of South Dakota and built an idyllic home on a large piece of land in the shadow of majestic peaks. He and Norma lived there for a long time until later in Bob's life, after years of fighting against suffocation from failing lungs, he ultimately succumbed to the disease.

Alberta Frank Oliver Bradeen "Bert"

Notes:
Bert hated the "A" at the end of his name and would often leave it off. It is believed by a family member of Bert's generation that both he and his wife were born in the same year but there are source differences regarding which year it was.
Bert's name was found in the SSDI listed by his nickname "Bert". His last residence was Woodlake, Tulare Co., CA; birth - 14 Jun 1897;death - Nov 1984 (no day given); SS#-503-42-7807.

Myrtle Irene Fink

Notes:
Myrtle's name was not found in the South Dakota Death Index for births over 100 years ago. Several variations of her vital statistics, name, etc. were tried without success. As this is quite unexpected for someone who died in modern times in a large city, she must have been wrongly entered; perhaps with her birth year blank. A death certificate was not been ordered.
