Notes:
Robert and Elizabeth bought 100 acres of land in Culpepper Co., Virginia in 1767. In 1787 they bought 300 acres on Terrible Creek in Fairfield Co., So. Carolina. In 1797 they bought land in then Stokes Co., No. Carolina remaining there the rest of their lives. Their son Robert, Jr. and their three daughters moved to No. Carolina with them. the other sons remained in So. Carolina.

WILL OF ROBERT MANSELL
In the name of God, Amen. I Robert Mansell of Stokes County and State of North Carolina, being in perfect health and mind and memory, thanks be to Almighty God for the same and calling to mind the uncertainty of this mortal life and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, I do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, that is to say principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it, and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a Christian like manner at the dispension of my executors hereafter named and as tucking (sic) worldly estate wherewith it has blessed God to bless me in this life ? I give, devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form, that is to say ? In the first place, I will and do ordain that all my just debts and funeral charges be paid ? and it is my will and pleasure to lend to my beloved wife all my lands moveable property that she thinks proper to keep during her natural life and what she does not chuse (sic) to keep to be sold a public sail (sic) and all the hand money that is found in her hand to remain in her hands for her support and maintenance during her natural life ? and all the paper money that is found in her hands at my decease to be put out in trust at the discression (sic) of my executors hereafter named, and at her decease and mine, all our property to be sold at public sail (sic) and equally divided between my sons ? Richard Mansell, Robert Mansell, James Mansell, and my daughters, Elizabeth Crosswhite, Mary James and Francis James, only first reducting from my six children what they already had by book accompt ? and it is my will and pleasure to leave to my son, John Mansell, deceased, one dollar, and furthermore, it is my will and pleasure that my son Richard Mansell shall take the part of my estate that would fall to my son Robert Mansell into his care without intrust (sic) to pay to my son Robert Mansell at certain times as my son, Richard Mansell thinks proper ? and lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint (sic) my beloved wife, Elizabeth Mansell, executrix and my beloved friends, Daniel Wolff and Jacob Conrad executors of my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills, legacies or executions by me heretofore made, ratifying and confirming this and not other to be my last Will and Testament I witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fifth day of April in the year of our Lord, one thousand, eight hundred and nineteen.
