Genealogy of Winfield Gallup and Florence Miles

Notes

John Hand Jr.

Notes:
John Hand, his wife Alice Gransden and his eldest son, John, and his father came to America in 1635 aboard the Ship "The Peter Bonaventurer" from Maidstone, Kent, England. [There is alternate research which finds he may have arrived in 1635 with his father in the English Warship HMS Falcon.] They went first to Lynn, Massachusetts, and then to Southampton, Long Island, New York in March 1644. In the spring of 1649, John was in East Hampton; he was one of the original grantees of East Hampton. (The first settlers of East Hampton were: John Hand, John Stratten, Sen'r. Thomas Talmage, Jr., Robert Bond, Daniel Howe, Robert Rose, Thomas Thomson, Joshua Barnes and John Mulford.) He owned land in the parishes of Tunbridge and Ashford, near Maidstone in England. The father returned to England to obtain his property and was murdered on the high seas returning to America.

Agnes Luscombe

Notes:
Agnes was to be the 10th great grandmother of Florence B. Gallup.
