Some Performance Numbers for N491LC

                On a Fall day in 2006 I took the airplane up to record the following

 

Weather ---- Clear in early afternoon. Altimeter setting 29.62.

Outside air temperature at 8,000ft ---- 50 deg. F.

Oil temperature throughout this flight ---- 200 deg. F (never above the Vernitherm setting)

During climb-out (full throttle, full rich):

      ---- 900 FTM at 90 kts. passing through 6,000 ft.

      ---- Using 16.7 gph at 2390 rpm passing through 7,000 ft.

      ---- CHT reading 360 - 390 degrees passing thru 7,500 feet at 90kts and 16.7 gph.

Level at 8,000 ft.:

      ---- Mixture - 20 rpm on the lean side

      ---- Throttle - Reduced to rated RPM (2,700)

      ---- Air speed - 165 kts.

      ---- Fuel flow - 12.6 gph.

      ---- CHT 350 - 380, EGT 1530 nominal.

      ---- Ground speed: East - 185kts. West - 145kts.

Cruise set-up at 8,000 ft:

      ---- Tach set to 2390 RPM, leaned on the lean side.      

      ---- Fuel flow - 10 gph. (RPM set to achieve this figure)

      ---- EGT - 1470 nominal

      ---- CHT - 320 to 355

      ---- Airspeed 140 kts. against 20kt. headwind.
